THE LECTURER

I have been a Lecturer of Spanish at the University of California, Berkeley,  at Yale University, and at Wake Forest University in the USA.  I have been a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in the countries of El Salvador, Romania and Chile.  I have designed a Spanish language curriculum for the Yale-New Haven Hospital and taught beginning, intermediate and advanced medical Spanish to medical school students and physicians.

 I OFFER YOU-

Corporate courses: I design language and culture courses for professionals with an international focus.  I meet with you, listen to your needs, and build a curriculum. While I generally suggest 4 contact hours per week for 5 weeks, I do offer weekend seminars and two-week intensive courses.  Prices vary.

Private courses:  I create personally tailored private courses for individuals and couples (special rate). I teach any level and will tailor the course after the initial interview.  Prices vary.

THE INTERPRETER 

I have been an interpreter at academic conferences in Chile and in Mexico.  I have served as an interpreter at medical conferences in the USA.  I have interpreted at political and cultural forums for the World Affairs Council, Global Affairs Canada, The Peace Corps, and other international aid organizations.

I OFFER YOU-

Political, cultural and academic interpreting: I offer interpreter services in all these areas and prices are based on length of session, nature of job, setting of job and whether or not it would require extensive prior preparation, i.e., reviewing a very long speech prior to interpreting in front of specific audience.

Medical interviews:  I interpret in any medical setting.  Complicated interpreting sessions in oncology, nephrology or psychiatry will be charged at a higher rate.

 THE TRANSLATOR

I was the editor and translator of Albatross, a poetry journal, for 2 years. I have translated historical documents relating to the conquest of the Americas.  I have translated several series of related texts for art and culture exhibits in the USA and in Chile.

I OFFER YOU-

Translation of literary and historical texts: I offer translation services in these areas as well as others. Prices are based on length of document and complexity of language (use of metaphor, writing style, tone, rhythm, etc.).  I must view the entire work before negotiating a price.

Curatorial or otherwise short explanatory texts:  Prices are based on entire collection: a few documents vs. an entire collection where one piece (letter, object, painting) relates to the other in some way. I must view entire collection before negotiating a price.
